Working to make this layout browser friendly
No Remarks |Well I’ve been working to get my layout to work in every browser. At least Internet Explorer 6 & 7 and Firefox. Everything looks fine to me on the main page on Firefox and Internet Explorer on my end, but when you add a comment or search through the archives for some odd reason the footer some how jumps out the content div and sits below it. I’ve tried to fix this and nothing works! I really want this layout to work, but it’s becoming extremely nerve racking! I may have to recode the whole thing and start over, but I don’t know where to begin.
If you notice any bugs please report them in the comments section along with the screen resolution and type of browser you are using. Also please be specific when you report my layouts flaws! Thanks!
Starting A Link Exchange
No Remarks |Today I was looking at some other blogs that had personal blog designs and it seemed like a lot of them were so similar. They had a big banner with a lot of Photoshop effects and maybe an anime or some other kind of picture incorporated within it. Then the really skinny 100px sidebar with tiny text along with the main entry area also about 400-500px wide with small text. Some layouts were 2 column layouts and some were 3 column layouts with the whole layout shifted off to the left.
Honestly, I hate layouts like that. They aren’t really that original to me. I just can’t use someone else’s characters or graphics on my site and the way the layout is set up is so like everyone else. I have to be original. I think that is what will make me stand out. All my blog and site banners and layouts are all entirely original and designed fully by me. I do use Photoshop effects on pictures, but the original picture is mine.
Like for instance the green layout that you will see later this year is totally original. I took some pictures on one of my outings with my boys and used one of the photos for the banner in my layout. I also used another photo I took on my clients website (Homeworks).
I will like to see some more original blog designs. Original designs kind of make me interested in reading the blog. Then comes the content and if it’s pretty boring I’ll admire the layout, scan through some entries, (possibly) make a comment if an entry interest me and leave.
I found a pretty decent blog, but then the owner got full of herself when I made a few nice comments and was pretty nasty towards me so I don’t visit her site anymore. Maybe she was jealous because my site was a lot better as far as having original content…not just fan sites. I should have known though because a lot of her entries had a some what selfish, boastful, arrogant demeanor.
If only I can find a nicely designed personal blog with some decent content to read…
Maybe I’ll join a link exchange or start one, but the blogs have to be original (design) and personal. No news and article blogs.
Some Web-Design Stuff
No Remarks |Today I found a new layout that I like for my summer theme. I never use the exact layout, but I take a few things that I like from it, add some ideas of my own to make it original and set the layout up like that. The layout I found has a banner, footer, top navgation and sidebar that I will not be mimicing. It’s just the actual layout of where things appear is what I was looking at. I don’t want none of my layouts to be exactly the same. Like this one for instance. It has a full sidebar with different styled headers. The actual content is totally different and so is the banner and top navigation. This layout is nothing like the Pink Sugar Globe layout except the footer of coarse. I might change it or it may stay the way it is.
Anyways…
I have a basic understanding of how I want my layout to look so now I need to think about the colors…maybe a soft yellow, soft orange and soft blue??? I don’t want to use anything that’s harsh and bright. It has to be muted soft colors, something easy on the eyes. The worst thing is to go to a website and get a headache from the loudness of the colors!
Well I’ll work on the theme later. Right now I’m getting ready to go shopping again with Destin of coarse.
New Purple Spring Theme
No Remarks |I’m testing a new theme for the spring today so if you come to my site and it looks odd don’t despair…it’s only temporary. Anyways. I gotta go. My friend Kim and I are going to the mall to hang out since it’s actually nice out.

Well…we never went to the mall because Kim said her Mom wouldn’t let her go. I didn’t get myself and Destin dressed for nothing so Destin and I went to the mall and bought Elijah a new outfit to wear on his Birthday.
Tommorow I have a doctor appointment so I have to drop Destin off at my Mom’s until I get back. I hope Elijah is feeling better because I want to bring him home. I just didn’t want him to give Destin influenza and with me being pregnant I’m the last person that needs to get sick.
Like the new theme?
I like it, but I still like my pink one better. I guess I gotta get used to this one and maybe my opinion of it will change. I made a summer theme, but I hate it with a passion because I made it mimic the original pink one. Maybe I’ll find some ideas on the net to get an idea of how to set the layout up differently. Until then the purple spring layout will be up. One thing for sure…this layout is easier on my eyes since I got so tired of viewing the pink layout…it started giving me a headache. It took me forever to finish this theme. I started earlier today and I just finished making the final touches…hopefully.
I hope I didn’t forget anything, but if I did I’ll find out sooner or later and I’ll be able to fix it.
New Themes Coming
No Remarks |I’m creating some new themes for my blog. I created a new banner for this theme with some photoshop brushes I found on the net. I also grabbed a new font to go with the elegance of the banner. I’m going to create two more themes. One for Florida with shells, flowers and ferns and another one that’s a bit of an ocrean theme with fish scales and coral. I think I may use the water theme one for the summer and in October I’ll switch it to the Florida theme when I move. It’s be about time for sweetvanillasugar to get a new color scheme. I’ve been pink all year. Although pink is my favorite color, I’m starting to get tired of looking at it.
This week I’m going to be testing out my theme’s. If your lucky you might catch a glimpse of my theme’s loaded up on the blog.
Well…it’s late and I still need to take my nightly shower.
